The goal of each conference is to create an atmosphere of openness and change, and to give practical, Biblical instruction to strengthen marriages. A conference typically consists of 2 sessions Friday evening, followed by 2 sessions Saturday morning. Some other options are to have your conference on a Monday and Tuesday night, or a Thursday and Friday night. We are flexible and willing to work with you and your organization to develop a conference that will meet your specific needs both in time and topics covered. Additional sessions/topics can be added to customize a conference that will meet your specific needs. Your conference can be held at your church, or at an off-site location as a retreat.

Listed below are the topics included in Joe's marriage conference series titled "Hooked For Life":

1. What It Takes To Catch 'Em, Is What It Takes To Keep 'Em (2 Sessions)

What attracted you to your spouse, and what did it take to "catch" them? Is your marriage derailing, or are you working to "keep" your spouse?

This session takes a look at five "marriage busters" and what you can do to keep them out of your relationship.

How does an affair start, and what can you do to avoid having one.

2. Are You Irresistible or Resistible? (2 Sessions)

This looks at nine ways in which a husband can make himself "irresistible" to his wife.

It also covers seven ways in which a wife can make herself "irresistible" to her husband.

There is a "change workshop" time after each session for immediate practical application for each couple.

Ideas On Promoting Your Conference

Use the conference as an outreach tool for your community as well as a time of training for the people in your church. Here are some ideas to help in promoting your conference:

Provide childcare on-site if at all possible. This is a huge issue! This, first of all, makes it more cost effective for couples since getting a babysitter would be more money, and secondly with their kids "on-site", it makes them more comfortable. We have seen this first hand to be a big benefit in signing up couples for conferences. You can promote this as a "date night" with free childcare valued at $50+.

Promote this as a marriage "enrichment" conference. A lot of folks still have the idea in the back of their minds that marriage conferences are only for couples with problems. Well, we all have problems, so then all of us should go! Ha,ha This conference is to strengthen those couples that have good marriages, and it's to restore couples with more serious issues as well.

Use the conference as an outreach tool for your community as well as a time of training for the people in your church. Here are some suggested ways to promote a conference:

oMake up a flyer, with all of the pertinent information about the conference, and have your folks pass them out in the community. (Grocery store checkouts, on mail boxes in subdivisions, etc.)

oEncourage your folks to hand out the flyers to family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. A personal invitation goes a long way!

oPut an advertisement in a local paper. Sometimes these are free for churches.

Run a radio advertisement.  Use the conference as an outreach tool for your community as well as a time of training for the people in your church.

Be creative and have fun. Sometimes folks that don't normally go to church will come to a marriage conference, so this can be a way to draw them in.
